Mastering the Art and the Science of Aesthetic Bonded Restorations

Sunday 4th March 2012

With a conservative approach in mind, the restorative team should be able to provide patients with minimally invasive, highly aesthetic, and long-lasting solutions. This lecture will focus on current key bonding principles and the effect that light dynamics have on various direct composite materials as a foundation to create imperceptible composite restorations.

In addition, this presentation provides a systematic and scientific approach for selecting aesthetic treatment modalities based on original research data with special emphasis on techniques and new materials design and selection.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a strong foundation of the optical properties provided through composite materials.
  • Understand how unique novel composite materials, nanofilled and other resin systems provide solutions to create greater clinical success.
  • Clearly understand stratification techniques for life-like anterior and posterior restorations.
  • Learn techniques for restorative treatment of discoloured teeth.
  • Properly understand the indications and limitations of low-shrinkage composite resins.
  • Understand the rationale for selecting various adhesive protocols.
  • Learn the advantages and limitations of current self-etch adhesives.
  • Understand the causes and treatment of post-operative sensitivity.
